We are excited to have you audition for the 2026-27 Spanish River High School Wind Ensemble (advanced band) and Jazz Band! Please look at the requirements below and prepare thoroughly for your audition.
What: Auditions for the Wind Ensemble (advanced band) and Jazz Band at Spanish River High School.
Who: All Band students in grades 9-12 for the 2026-27 school year, are eligible to audition. Placement into this band will be based on the quality of your audition.
Where: Auditions for the 2026-27 Wind Ensemble (advanced band) and Jazz Band will be through video audition.
When: Students auditioning for these groups will submit a video of themselves performing the required audition materials on or before Thursday, May 14th for Wind Ensemble and Thursday, May 14th for Jazz Band.
Wind Ensemble Audition Materials

Record the following: recordings must be a video where you are visible for the whole time, in one take. Perform the materials in the order listed below and please do not have any pauses longer than 10 seconds between each requirement.
Major Scales – 7 Major scales with arpeggios from memory, in the All-State pattern. Scales should be played 2 octaves where possible in the following order: concert G, C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db and the chromatic scale. Quarter note = 120.
Chromatic Scale: Play your chromatic scale following the guidelines for your instrument as outlined in the "Wind Ensemble Audition Excerpts" below.
Prepared etudes found in the PDF excerpts below.

Wind Ensemble recordings must be uploaded by Thursday, May 14th.

Record the following: recordings must be a video where you are visible for the whole time, in one take. Perform the materials in the order listed below and please do not have any pauses longer than 10 seconds between each requirement.

Chromatic Scale from memory two octaves starting on any note of your choice. All 8 th notes, tongued ascending and slurred descending. Quarter note = 132, play eighth notes in swing style.
